New Kitchen Garden

Wow! Has it really been that long since my last post!!!
Life got busy...
...but things are slowly getting back to some semblance of normality.

Spring sowing and potting on and up and planting out has been cruising along according to plan, the major problem has been the very uncooperative spring weather this year...into November and there were still frosts in the forecasts and I won't even dare to mention the winds.

The garden had to be planted up in time for us to head north to visit our new Grandie, Tropical Girl. It wasn't our first trip up north this year but babies aren't babies forever and we have to make the most of this little cherub while she is still little.
The other three Big Grandies now live around the corner from us so they are tasked with minding the chooks each time we go away!

Back to the garden...
Last summer was awful. It started hot and dry in October and stayed that way until April. This winter in contrast has been one of our wettest on record!

I think we are on our twentieth re-design of the Kitchen Garden and this time I think it's working...until we change our minds again! We have 25 small raised wicking beds (mainly) in the Kitchen Garden, just out the back..with fruit trees and the chooks on the other side of the block.

In the next few posts I'll describe what's growing in each of the beds...
