One Handed Gardening???

Unable to do much in the garden we took the chance to go and visit the Grandies. PoppyDoc helped set up their new garden beds which they will plant up with some of Nannie's seedlings and Strawberries. Meanwhile they had a lovely time in their new sandpit.

Well when I said life was chaotic in the last post, gardening is on a go slow at the moment as I have my left arm in a cast after breaking my wrist! Luckily I did manage to get a few jobs done before it happened. Do you know how much you use both hands to do things????

Top-up Sowing

It's a daily ritual this time of the year to take the trays of seedlings out of the greenhouse and return them at night.

Life has been chaos with lots of markets, lots of sowing and transplanting seeds and a trip to hospital (finally) thrown in for good measure. Now all that has passed I can get down to some serious garden re-vamping and get my spring seedlings planted out. The weather is warming up but the nights are still chilly, while getting things ready I have been out catching earwigs and getting the chooks to help. The Faveroles have been very helpful in clearing the smaller beds while the younger bantams just go wildly scratching their way around the fruit trees.

During the Green Planting Moon Phase (September 25th to 28th):
Seeds Sown: Sown into punnets but no longer needing the heated bed!
Basil Sweet Genovase Ocimum basililicum from DT Brown
Lettuce Mixed Salad Leaves Lactuca sativa from Johnsons Seeds
Parcel aka Leaf Celery Apium graveolens var. Secalinum from Home Saved Seeds
Red Clover Trifolium pratense var sativum from Phoenix Seeds
Sunflower Sun King Helianthus annuus from DT Brown

Potting up/on:
Basil Holy/Tulsi
Basil Sweet
Kang Kong
Malabar Spinach Red

Cucumber Mini White Cucumis sativus from 4 Seasons Seeds
Cucumber Spiky Indian Cucumis anguria from Fair Dinkum Seeds
Okra Red Abelmoschus esculentus Green Harvest
Rockmelon Ananas Cucumis melo from Diggers
Rockmelon Prescott Cucumis melo from Diggers
Rockmelon Delice Cucumis melo from Diggers
Zucchini Black Beauty Cucurbita pepo from Greenpatch

Rockmelon Delice De La Table
Rockmelon Prescott Fond Blanc

The next lot of propagation will be Seeds of Root crops which can be sown on the 10th and 11th as well as the 14th and 15th of October.
