Moving Things...

Doc has been busy helping me to move the potting benches to the back of the garden. With my broken left wrist still in it's cast for another week I will say that Doc has been doing most of the work.
This area which includes part of the Old Chook Run Garden will soon become my "Propagation Area" for the garden. It will include the old Caravan (with power for the heated propagation tray), a Greenhouse, these Shaded Benches (70%shade) for potting on and cuttings and a Shade House with 50% shade.
All my small vegetable beds will be on this side of the block for easier access and the other block will be for the Chooks and Fruit trees and shrubs.

Seeds Sown: Root seed sowing time on the Moon planting chart is also time for sowing seeds of perennial plants.
A trial sowing of an old seed order from Trees For Life - you can never have too many local Acacias, which are nitrogen fixers, growing in the Orchard.
Acacia calamifolia -Wallowa
Acacia hakeoides - Hakea Wattle
Acacia ligulata - Umbrella Bush
Acacia oswaldii - Umbrella Wattle
Acacia sclerophylla Harde-leaved Wattle
Black Oak Casuarina pauper also nitrogen fixing
Dryland Tea Tree Melaleuca lanceolata not nitrogen fixer but attracts beneficials

Some perennials from Fair Dinkum Seeds
Mangard Raspberry Jam Wattle Acacia acuminata
Pomegranate Large Punica granatum
Winter Apple Berry Eremophila debilisNative Raspberry Rubus rosifolius
Kiwi Fruit Chinese Gooseberry Actinidia deliciosa

Sturt Pea Swainsona formosa from Mr Fothergills
Grass Tree Xanthorrhoea presii from Mr Fothergills
Native Lemongrass Cymbopogon ambiguus from home saved seeds

Many of these seeds needed to be soaked overnight before sowing.

Potting On:
Anise Hyssop Seedlings
Crotalaria seedlings
Parcel seedlings
Pigeon Pea seedlings

I had a tidy up of my plants on the tables as we moved them so many have been potted on and all have been tidied and pruned.

Tomato Indigo Apple (Red and Black) these only had 5 seeds in the pack and only 4 germinated so I have taken some 'sucker cuttings' to get more plants!

Planting Out:
Parsley purchased seedlings
Trombocino Zucchini seedlings
Tepary Bean seedlings

The new garden behind the Chook Food Shed is coming along well. With many flowering herbs attracting beneficials and the fruit trees beginning to set fruit it is a buzz with life at the moment.

The next sowing time will be for Greens Seeds on November 25th and 26th.
