Christmas Greetings

It's often a challenge to have ripe tomatoes for Christmas Day
in the cool/temperate parts of Australia...
...most years we manage it.

Have a Safe and Happy holiday break everybody.

Update: Dec Week 1, 2013

I have lots of tiny tomatoes developing around the garden...here, in Bed 3, the Red Collossus fruits are growing quickly.

Weather Highlights:
Lowest Min 7.4C
Highest Min 19.6C
Lowest Max 20.4C
Highest Max 40.3C
12mm Rain

The first week of summer has brought some stormy rain after a couple of very hot days.
The stormy weather brought all the snails out of hiding...

Here is how you can tell if the silvery trails in your garden are from slugs or snails...from DailyRandomFacts.com

Propagation:
Seeds:

Basil Sweet Genovese Ocimum basilicum From Mr Fothergill's (Seed Mats)

This is my favourite little garden bed just by the back door...with Yellow Pear Tomatoes, Bushy Cucumbers, Casper Eggplant (white), Long Purple Eggplant, Chilli Shake Chillies and a couple of Minette Basil seedlings. It has recently been mulched with sugarcane which has led to a bit of earwig damage but the plants are big enough now to withstand a few holey leaves. I am looking forward to the first harvests from this bed.

The first Zucchinis for the year have been harvested and eaten...

Scarecrow's Garden Journal Notes: November 2013:

Not much has been happening in the garden...

Doc's Mum helping in the garden during 2011.

This November is a month I would rather forget. The only positive thing was that we spent a lot of time with all our family...the reason was the negative.
Doc's dear, sweet mother lost her battle with Alzheimer's last week. At only 74 years of age it was tragic to watch what this disease did to someone we loved. In many ways her loss is a (very sad) relief.

Temperatures this month:
Lowest Min 1.2C
Highest Min 14.8C
Lowest Max 18.4C
Highest Max 37.3C
1 mm Rain which fell as scattered, light showers during the month

Rain:
Year To Date: 347mm (Average YTD: 285.9mm)
Comparison with other years:
November Average is 25.7mm:
2013 1mm
2012 5mm
2011 79.5mm
