Propagation Update

Thin Bamboo stakes have been added to the Tomatoes in Bed 3
to train them up to the wire on the overhead arch.

The weather has been hot and windy one day, cold and drizzly the next typically spring!!
The drizzle has brought hundreds of Snails and Slugs out of hiding just in time to devour some of my new baby seedlings. Argh!!!!

Basil Purple Ocimum basilicum cv purpurascens
Cucumber Revel
Dill Anethum graveolens
Ivy Pelargonium Double Mauve Pelargonium peltatum
Korean Mint Agastache rugosa

Into the Old Chook House Wicking Bed went:

Planting into that pumpkin mound resulted in bug attack big time!!!
These seedlings are now covered each night
with a plastic bottle (with the base removed).
These must be removed each morning
or the seedlings will overheat in the sun!

Pumpkin Triamble x 1 seedling from seeds sown 29/08/11
Trombone Gramma x 5 seedlings from seeds sown 29/08/11

Whereas those in the Wicking Bed have hardly been touched
and are 3 times the size!

Pumpkin Triamble x 1 seedling from seeds sown 29/08/11
Pumpkin Wangaparaoa Crown seedlings from seeds sown 29/08/11

Lettuce Gloria seedlings from seeds sown 2/07/11
as succession planting in the Greens Wicking Tank

Potato Purple Congo into a Wicking Bucket!
A white 20 litre bucket this time as I believe the black pots
will get too hot in our summer.

Split up pots of:
Thai Basil Ocimum basilicum
Thyme Pink Carpet Thymus serphyllum coccineurs
Thyme White Carpet Thymus serphyllum alba

Daisy Marguerite Yellow Argyranthemum frutescens
Mint Vietnamese Polygonum odoratum

To Do List:
Continue clearing beds and planting seeds/seedlings. Still a few to go!
Rebuild Wicking Bed 4 and build one more Wicking Tank Bed...
Clear Driveway and put up car shade cover back up for summer!
