The Cherry Tree Blooms Again!!

Scarecrow's Garden Log: 02:10:2010:

I have been reading about other folks
harvesting their first Asparagus for the season
and now we have the first spear to appear!!!!

Temperatures this week:
Lowest Min -0.1C
Lowest Max 12C
Highest Max 22C
No Recorded Rainfall

What's the weather been like in the garden?
Three chilly mornings this week with ice on the cars but not damaging to the garden. By the end of the week the temperature was on the rise! No rain in sight.

Seeds (etc):
Carrot Purple Haze
Carrot Purple Dragon
Carrot Lunar White
Carrot Solar Yellow
Potato Bintji
Potato Cranberry Red
Potato Congo
Potato Pink Fir Apple

Potting up and on:
Tomatoes lots eek
Silverbeet Mixed Rainbow
Loganberry cuttings

Mint Chocolate
Mint Ginger

In the Garden This week:

Lots more potting on this time Tomatoes! All of the varieties that I planted have had at least some germinate, the best by far being the Black Russians! With these and Green Zebras, Red Oxhearts, Kotlas and Cherry Toms, Yellow Tommy Toes, Golden Sunrise, and Ida Golds I am hopeful of a clourful harvest this year! Just a few of each type. wink

The Dutch Cream Potatoes are growing well in Bed 2 MVG*...

Now I have planted more potatoes into bed 5 MVG
and into the new Wicking Bed in the Old Chook Run area.

The Tatsoi that has been flowering and set many seed pods was covered to allow me to uncover (a couple of days later) the Ethiopian Cabbage in Bed 1 MVG*.

That should lower the chance of cross pollination as there are no other Brassica varieties flowering in the garden.

The Cherry tree is blossoming
despite having flowered back in Autumn.

The Nashi is in full bloom.
