Scarecrow's Garden Log: 10:07:2010:

Frost on the Elderberry Sambucus nigra
better named Elderflower here

as we rarely get berries.

Temperatures this week:
Lowest Min -4C

Lowest Max 11.2C

Highest Max 14.5C

4mm Rain

What's the weather been like in the garden?
The rain came with a windy storm on Friday night - before that we had perfect, sunny winter days! Another shrub down in the front garden - a long dead melalueca. It was a favourite of the birds who would brush themselves on the dried stems after their dives in the bird bath. I may look at propping it up, anchored to a star picket so that the birds can continue to use it...

No propagation happening this week just Planning.

In the Garden This week:

  • spring planting - what to plant - when/where, sowing is due to begin indoors very soon!

  • a temporary frost shelter for growing seedlings?
  • new wicking beds in the old chook run at the eastern end of the house block?
