What a Storm!!

This morning the wind picked up

It only seemed like seconds before the sky darkened...

to black.

I dashed inside with Lucky Dog just in time.
High winds, hail and rain lashed and after...

Trees down in most streets in town

The primary school...

and the beautiful old tree in the main street
that I photographed back here in January this year
...is gone! cryeekcry

There is a concrete picnic table and chairs
under there somewhere! cryeekcry

We didn't see any major damage to buildings though
unlike other areas around the state.
See here

But how lucky can you be...
this was close

and this!

Sure was wet!

Hopefully the Vege patch and the Chooks/girls are fine. Looks like you had more rain than us. We certainly did not get hail. shame about the beautiful big old gum. It was more than a bit windy down here and the jetties were closed but only about 7mm of rain.
Cheers

Hi PatchworkRose
It looked like a lot of rain but only about 2mm reached the gauge...think the rest blew away!!!

The veg and chooks are fine thanks but one of the eucalypts out the front dropped a couple of limbs again. Didn't cause any damage though.

The poor trees have been so stressed by the dry weather we've been having that a lot of street trees just 'fell' over...they will be missed.

I heard on the news about the jetties I hope they all survived OK.

Hi Savvy Mummy
Everyone's fine up here but a volunteer SES guy was injured down in Adelaide!

Hi Sue
Yes it is sad because up here they take sooo long to replace...when they bother to plant more that is!

That storm came on so fast and luckily went just as fast...it's still windy but nowhere near as bad now. Lots of homes in the state were without power most of yesterday. We only lost power for a few seconds!

Just reading the news now and it seems these storms have moved into Victoria now and a woman has been killed over there!

Glad you and Luckydog made it to safety! We've had thunder and lightening here too - Buddy does not like it one bit!

Hi Scarecrow,

Here in Port Augusta we had very strong winds that downed trees, lots of dirt but sadly no rain. I think a house on the west side of the town lost it's roof.

I have lots of leaves, dirt and debris to clean up.

Hi Matron
Lucky Dog hates thunder too and as deaf as she is seems to know it's coming before we do!

Hi Tania
Yes I heard Pt Augusta didn't get much rain out of those storms...I think ours came in hail. Those storms were a bit hit and miss around the state. Not something I hope will return.
